In case you haven't noticed, everyday more and more article directories are popping up all over the Internet.
So, what's behind this surging popularity of article directories? Two things:
First of all, webmasters have discovered that search engines love article directories because of their high content value.
Second, article writers have discovered that writing articles really does pull in targeted traffic that converts and makes money for their products and services, and/or affiliate programs. As a result, more and more people are writing articles, thereby creating a huge demand for more and more article directories.
Following are 3 reasons why I think writing articles is better than pay per click advertising:
1. Articles Are Viral: If you write articles and allow them to be freely published, your articles become viral, meaning your articles can actually spread like a virus and have the potential to be viewed by millions (yes millions) of Internet users.
Also, your articles may be published by one or more ezines with subscriber bases numbering thousands. In addition, your articles may be displayed in ezine archives or high traffic websites for years to come.
2. Search Engines Love Articles: Articles that you write yourself, in your own words are called "unique content." Search engines love unique content, and if you have unique content on your website or blog, you can expect to get linked to by many high-profile websites, thereby increasing your PR (Page Rank) and traffic as well.
In addition, SEO (Search Engine Optimization) experts claim that unique content gets bookmarked at a much higher ratio than duplicate content, meaning visitors return to your website or blog over and over again to view more of your information, giving you multiple chances to convert them into customers.
3. Articles Are Free Advertising: Here's the best thing of all about writing articles: At the end of your article, publishers allow you to include a short 3 or 4 line blurb or advertisement about your business. Technically, it's called a "resource box." But it's an advertisement nonetheless.
You can use this space to write something compelling to attract readers to your website, blog or affiliate program. Just be sure not to
over hype your resource box, as this will turn readers off. In addition, it may cause your articles to be rejected by publishers.
I should also mention, writing articles is the quickest way to establish credibility online. If you write good, quality content, not only will your articles get published regularly, but they will also brand you as an expert in your field, which will instantly enhance your reputation and bottom line tremendously.
In closing, if you compare all of the aforementioned reasons for writing articles to the ever-rising cost of pay per click advertising, it's easy to see which one is truly the better value!
