If you are a business article writer then perhaps you have been approached by several website owners who wish to recruit you as a writer. As an online article writer, actually without ego talking; the most prolific online article writer on the Internet with over 6500 articles; well, you could say I get contacted a couple of times each week to write for someone, generally they want to use me and my talents for free? Interesting indeed.
Generally, I consider every opportunity, why not right? Often I say; ?Well your idea sounds worthy, but I am not interested in any exposure, I am retired. So, it seems like a lot of work and not sure that makes sense from a time expenditure standpoint.?
What gets me really upset is when these recruiters try to blow smoke up my rear end and tell me that my articles are super great, awesome or they love my writing style. Interesting thing is my writing sucks, my spelling is only passable and as you can see from this article my sentence structure leaves a lot to be desired. But these folks attempt to compliment and BS me every time. So, I say things like;
?I do not feel my writing style is good or even that my articles are that great. I feel you are stroking me to get me to sign up. That compliment is incorrect, I cannot accept it or let it cloud my judgment and it makes me skeptical of you attempting to compliment me to sign me up.?
Then they promise things like we will put your picture on our website, we will make you one of a special team of writers, on and on the bullcrap never stops and you see funny thing is that; being a "Marketing Expert" is not important to me personally, I already know who I am, built up a franchising company in 23-states, 4 nations and sold it. And yes I have read 100's of books, listened to tapes, studied markets and marketed companies, no one was ever as good as our team in any of the states we went into, the competition could not hang with the program.
Now as a retired entrepreneur and hobbyist writer it seems rather odd to me that lesser marketers would attempt to recruit me using ?B-movie? sales tactics and embellished compliments to do so? Gee whiz, what an insult to my intelligence. If you are an online business writer and actually know what you are talking about, I hope you can see thru these phony type sales recruitment pitches. Consider all this in 2006.
