3 Crucial Points to Keep in Mind Before Writing Your Sales Message

Before you write a WORD of online sales copy, remember...

1. Your prospects are too busy to read your entire sales message: They will always take the shortcut of skimming, scrolling, and scanning.

Your job: Turn the skimmers, scrollers, and scanners into readers

Here's How: Your skimming audience will follow your trail of well written subheads, placed strategically throughout your sales message, email, blog post, etc...

(Or frequent paragraph breaks, numbers, and colons to indicate the major points - like I'm doing in this article)

When your skimming audience reads each subhead or major point they should be able to understand your entire sales message. And the interesting part is, if your subheads are compelling enough, they will convert your skimmers into readers, who will want to read the rest of your message.

2. Your prospects don't believe a word you say: They roll their eyes at EVERYTHING.

Your Goal: To convince them that you're the real deal.

How to Do This: Provide overwhelming PROOF with all of your claims. This means using short, specific, and spicy testimonials. And try to have one testimonial per benefit that you are presenting. This will ensure that your claims are as good as gold, not empty and hollow.

Make sure that everything you say is PROVEN through supporting evidence. If you can't prove it, leave it out. You'll come across like a snake oil salesman.

When you can base all your facts on cold, hard proof you gain credibility and trust with your prospects.

3. People don't take action: They procrastinate, ponder, and put off

Your job: Make them act immediately

How to Do This: Give them REAL reasons why they need to act on this NOW. You can accomplish this by using scarcity, takeaway selling, and deadlines to create URGENCY within your prospects.

You won't get people to act by using that fake countdown clock you see on so many websites. You WILL get people to act by telling your prospects that there is limited seating at your event, a certain number of irresistible bonuses for the first people who order your product, or special "fast start" calls for the first X number of signups.

The sale happens in a prospect's mind when you can create more value for your product or service than the amount of money you are charging for it. If you add that the price, the bonuses, or the time frame is limited, you WILL get your prospects to act.
